Four Common Types of Doors to Choose From

The first impression indeed lasts. That said, what’s the first thing you see when entering a house? The door, of course. Whether you are designing and building your own home or you’re picking for a friend, you have to carefully choose the type of door you will place in a given area. To be able to do this, you have to know its different types based on its material of manufacture.

1. Timber / Wooden Doorswhite

Timber or wooden doors have been known to be the go-to for doors and windows. This is because of its availability. Local carpenters prefer this type also because it is easier to make compared to other kinds of doors. Keep in mind that there are different types of wooden doors; you just have to know your budget and decide on the quality. Typically, wooden doors are placed at the exterior part of the house, but it can also be placed indoors.

2. Flush Doors

A flush door is basically plywood or fiberboard placed over a timber frame. This makes the door lighter than the usual wooden door. The structures of the doors can also be made of steel, as long as it holds the weight of the entire door. It is usually hinged on one side to allow the door to be opened in one direction only.

Flushed doors are commonly used nowadays because of its durability and cheaper prices. If it is used for bathrooms, the door should be covered with aluminum sheets to provide extra protection from the water.

3. Glass Doors

A lot of modern homes showcase glass doors and windows of different kinds, designs, and colors. The most common area where glass doors are used are in the backyard, garden, or balcony. This provides easy viewing and creates an illusion of a bigger room.

The front door can also be made of glass, as long as you strategically place it and take extra care due to less privacy and durability. For a more vintage look, you can opt for stained glass. However, it can be costly.

4. Steel Doors

Steel doors are beautiful and durable at the same time; that’s why it’s an excellent option for the garden scene. They could be solid or hollow.
